World Book Day 2018

We celebrated World Book Day by dressing up as our favourite book character and held a parade to show off our amazing costumes. Even the teachers got involved!

We started the day with our parents joining us for reading morning. Some parents bought in their favourite childhood books to share with the children and we made good use of the classroom book areas and the school library.

We were lucky enough to have author and publisher Tola Okogwu visit us to hold workshops for the children. Reception and Years 1-3 were treated to a reading of Tola’s books ‘Daddy Do My Hair: Beth’s Twists’ and ‘Hope’s Braids’ and had the chance to explore multi-cultural dolls and discuss their afro hair.

Year 4-6 attended a presentation about what it is like to be a publisher and author. Tola inspired the children to write creatively and has got some of them thinking that they may like to follow in her career footsteps. Watch this space for some writing superstars of the future!
